Introduction
Dept. of Theology
Pierson Memorial Bible Academy, from which Pyeongtaek University originated, was established to honor the Bible, missionary work, and the spirit of unity. Dr. Arthur T. Pierson, a world-renowned preacher, Bible teacher, theologian, and missionary, significantly impacted evangelical missions in The United States and The United Kingdom and emphasized these three fortitudes.
Pierson Memorial Bible Academy was one of the oldest and most influential theological education institutions in Korea and nurtured pioneering leaders in Korean churches, such as In-Yeong Kim (former pastor in charge of Jeongdong Jeil Methodist Church), Chang-Guen Song (former principal of Pyongyang Seminary and Joseon Seminary), Sang-Dong Han (founder of the Gosin Presbyterian Church in Korea Theological Seminary), Chi-Ho Yun (founder of Gongsaengwon), and Jae-Heon Yu (leader of the second June 10th Independence Movement).
The Dept. of Theology continues its 100-year history under the spirit of the Bible, missionary work, and unity. Based on the founding spirit of Pierson Memorial Bible Academy, established in 1912, we focus on a Biblical education based on trans-denominational evangelical theology. Our prominent faculty passionately provides education to nurture visionary leaders with sound spirituality, personality, and intellect.
Currently, we provide a diverse, international education environment to enable our students to interact and study with foreign students. At graduation, students receive a Bachelor of Arts.
