Seniors and Institution Management Major
- Educational goals
- In order to meet the welfare needs of the elderly, we help students understand the problems of the elderly in the age of super-aging so they can learn and practice modern welfare for the elderly. We also help them prepare for the establishment of facilities related to the welfare of the elderly.
- Curriculum
- We teach practical knowledge such as hospice and counseling for the elderly, differentiated from traditional elderly welfare. The curriculum is provided so that students can learn the administrative practices of community care, the establishment of elderly welfare facilities, and the operation of elderly institutions.

Certificate & prospects
after graduation - Most of the students who take this course are already employed. However, most graduates are pioneering a new career path after obtaining a Master's and are standing out in their field. After graduation, students can start a business such as a nursing home for the elderly, a daycare center for the elderly with dementia, or find a career at a welfare center for the elderly.
Multicultural Family Welfare Major
- Educational goals
- Pyeongtaek University established a multicultural family center within the university for the first time in Korea in 2006 and has operated the multicultural family welfare Major until now. We train students to become professional social workers who can establish multicultural policies for cultural diversity in our society and respond to the welfare needs of multicultural families due to the increase in multicultural families such as marriage immigrants, foreign workers, and North Korean defectors.
- Curriculum
- The curriculum focuses on the enhancement of cultural competency required for local community experts and operates mandatory and elective courses to acquire multicultural social expert certificates. In addition, students can participate in multicultural projects entrusted by the government through connection with the Multicultural Family Center. They can also develop practical skills through hands-on training at the Multicultural Family Support Center, Healthy Family Support Center, Foreign Worker Support Center, and Defector Support Center.

Certificate & prospects
after graduation - By completing the required courses, students can acquire the social worker level 2 and multicultural social expert certificate and can participate in multicultural family expert education through connection with the Multicultural Family Association. Due to multiculturalism, the prospects after graduation are very bright. Students can find careers at multicultural family support organizations. They can also work as community experts and social workers for multicultural families, children, and youth.
Rehabilitation Counseling Major
- Educational goals
- Recently, the social demand for the realization of an integrated society without discrimination between the disabled and the non-disabled is increasing. It is very important to develop the potential for disabled people to become professionally and socially independent. Therefore, we nurture students to become rehabilitation counselors who support disabled people to live independently while enjoying the same 'quality of life' as non-disabled people through the acquisition of professional knowledge such as rehabilitation counseling, diagnosis, and evaluation.
- Curriculum
- The curriculum focuses on improving the core competencies required for rehabilitation professionals with disabilities. We teach subjects that deal with ideology, philosophy, and practice so that students can qualify as rehabilitation counselors for the disabled. In addition, we provide education so that students can work as professional rehabilitation counselors for the disabled through essential subjects such as rehabilitation counseling and vocational evaluation, as well as elective subjects such as rehabilitation for the developmentally disabled and rehabilitation practice.

Certificate & prospects
after graduation - If students complete the relevant curriculum, they can take the national exam and obtain the disability rehabilitation counselor license (level 1). With an aging society, the number of people with disabilities increases, along with the expansion of rehabilitation institutions and social service projects for the disabled. Thus, students can work at welfare centers for the disabled, vocational rehabilitation facilities, support centers for the developmentally disabled, child and youth counseling centers, the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities, and Korea Disabled People’s Development Institutes across the country.
Welfare and Companion Animals Major
- Educational goals
- In the era of 10 million companion animals, the importance of social welfare services considering companion animals is increasing. Therefore, we cultivate differentiated social welfare experts related to the human-animal bond, which is attracting attention with the increase of companion animals.
- Curriculum
- We operate a curriculum that enables students to develop professional and practical knowledge about understanding companion animals, empathy for the bond between companion animals and humans, pet loss, and the problem of domestic violence hidden behind animal abuse.

Certificate & prospects
after graduation - By completing the required courses, students can acquire the social worker level 2. In addition, they can complete the companion animal and welfare major courses and clinical practice hours, pass a qualification test and obtain a first-class certification as an animal welfare activist. With this certificate, students can work in various fields of human service related to companion animals, such as social welfare practice using animals, case management experts considering companion animals, and pet loss counselors.
